Gut Microbiota Composition and Cardiovascular Disease: A Potential New Therapeutic Target?

نویسندگان

چکیده

A great deal of evidence has revealed an important link between gut microbiota and the heart. In particular, plays a key role in onset cardiovascular (CV) disease, including heart failure (HF). HF, splanchnic hypoperfusion causes intestinal ischemia resulting translocation bacteria their metabolites into blood circulation. Among these metabolites, most is Trimethylamine N-Oxide (TMAO), which responsible, through various mechanisms, for pathological processes different organs tissues. this review, we summarise complex interaction CV particularly with respect to possible strategies influencing its composition function. Finally, highlight potential TMAO as novel prognostic marker new therapeutic target HF.

Changes in the composition and function of the gut microbiota in celiac disease

Evidence is supported the hypothesis that any changes in the composition and function of the gut microbiota play a fundamental role in a number of chronic inflammatory diseases including celiac disease (CD). In the last decade, several culture-independent methods have been developed to identify the components of the human microbiome. The study of microbiota based on nucleic acid analysis found ...

Correlation of gut microbiota composition with colon adenomatous polyps

Microbiota is a collection of microorganisms that live in the oral cavity, respiratory tract and intestine of multicellular organisms. Microbiota exerts numerous physiological and pathological effects on the organism in which it resides. Increasing attention has been directed to the host-microbiota interaction, which is highly relevant to the development of carcinogenesis. Changes in the compos...

High-density lipoproteins: a new potential therapeutic target for the prevention of cardiovascular disease.

Epidemiological studies have identified low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and high-density lipoproteins (HDL) as independent risk factors that modulate cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk.1,2 Over the past decade, clinical trials of LDL-lowering drugs have clearly established that reductions in LDL are associated with a 30% to 45% reduction in clinical events.3–7 However, despite lowered LDL, many p...

Gut Microbiota as Potential Therapeutic Target for the Treatment of Cow’s Milk Allergy

Cow's milk allergy (CMA) continues to be a growing health concern for infants living in Western countries. The long-term prognosis for the majority of affected infants is good, with about 80% naturally acquiring tolerance by the age of four years. However, recent studies suggest that the natural history of CMA is changing, with an increasing persistence until later ages. The pathogenesis of CMA...

Gut microbiota composition: A new kind of biomarker?

Without biomarkers modern healthcare would hardly exist. These measurable biological indicators allow physicians to assess the health state of their patients, diagnose conditions and predict disease risks. Over the last decade the highly dynamic field of gut microbiota research has made two essential discoveries: Firstly, the gut microbiota can be regarded as an organ in itself exerting such cr...
